Anna Meilman has a background in visual art, social service, and education. She discovered her love for circus in Tucson, AZ, where she performed with Cirque Roots Studio and Production Company (formerly Orbital Evolution Hoop Troup) from 2011 until her move to Boston in 2015. In Tucson, she also created a circus program at Desert Sky Community School, teaching ground skills, object manipulation, and improv games to elementary school students.
Anna has spent three summers at the New England Center for Circus Arts, one as an intern and two as a coach, teaching aerial silks and object manipulation to kids and adults. Other experience includes performing and teaching hoop dance workshops at the Southern Vermont Dance Festival, teaching hoop and silks to teen girls at the Women’s Empowerment Breakthrough Conference in Prescott, AZ, and teaching aerial silks at TSNY-Boston.
She is currently in graduate school completing a master’s degree in expressive arts therapy while continuing her circus training at Esh. She is working on using circus as a therapeutic modality, incorporating it into the field of expressive therapy.
