Our lead staff is certified through the American Red Cross in adult and pediatric CPR, First Aid, and AED. Circus Up are members of, and fully support, the American Circus Educators (ACE) and the American Youth Circus Organization (AYCO) standards and practices in safety and are in the process of applying for the ACE Safety Certificate.
We are committed to safeguarding mental health safety as well, and many members of our staff are certified through the National Council In Behavioral Health in Mental Health First Aid. Leah Abel also holds a Masters in Social Work from Simmons College.
To keep our training up to date, we participate regularly in Circus Educators Conferences. Staff also have received Aerial Circus Equipment Basic Instruction Training through The National Circus School in Montreal and Barry Cordage, Ltd.
Circus Up Safety Policies
We routinely check our rigging points and equipment every 30 days or less.
We replace all of our equipment congruent with Cirque du Soleil standards (varies for each kind of equipment and hardware- details available upon request).
All of our rigging points are installed by a certified rigger.
We replace any equipment that could be potentially damaged if dropped or compromised in any way.
