Community Troupe
Kirkos is Circus Up’s spectacular youth community troupe! Founded in 2020, Kirkos performs bold and uplifting shows in the greater Boston area. In the tradition of "social circus," these youth circus artists demonstrate what's possible when we stay curious about each other's differences and leverage each other's unique strengths. Kirkos team members address social issues while crafting collaborative circus acts that surprise, baffle, and delight.
Kirkos is one of the ways Circus Up works hard to increase access to circus arts. Troupe members (ages 8-18) are alumni of Circus Up programs and are always learning new skills through Circus Up classes.
You can find Kirkos performing for local organizations and at a variety of community events. Book them if you want to celebrate what it looks like for youth to courageously learn, play, and create together.
For youth in our Kirkos program, Circus Up helps with family wraparound services. We are committed to providing holistic care so that our youth thrive in every part of life (social, academic, emotional, and physical). Our Executive Director and General Manager (also head coaches of the Kirkos program) are Licensed Certified Social Workers and work closely with both the youth and their families of this program. We use Restorative Justice and The Liberation Health models and practices to guide our work.

Michael Bobbitt, Executive Director of The Mass Cultural Council came to visit Kirkos, and here is what he had to say:
"I have never been more jealous of a group of kids! How extremely rewarding to have the chance to play, explore, develop new skills, and build community while learning circus arts! These young circus artists looked sooo happy. Much praise goes to Circus Up!"
