
Scholarships
The Circus Up Scholarship Program aims to provide aspiring and practicing circus artists, who are part of historically under-resourced and under-represented communities, with the funds and opportunity to deepen their knowledge, practice, and performance of the circus arts.*
*Please note: If you are not part of a historically under-resourced and under-represented community, this scholarship may not be for you. As part of Circus Up’s mission, we give priority to members of BIPOC communities. Thank you for your understanding.
Eligibility Includes:
Financial needs based (please see the Sliding Scale pricing suggestions at the end of page)
Has strong interest in movement arts
Can attend at least 80% of classes
Lives in the Greater Boston Area
Priority given to members of BIPOC communities
*We use "priority" to mean mainly work with this community before others
*We use the following definition of BIPOC: Black, Indigenous, People of Color, Latinx, Asian, Native American, Pacific Islander, and all other ethnicities of color

Youth scholarships ages are 8-18
Adult scholarships are for people ages 19+ and does not cover/provide for any transportation to/from classes
Scholarship applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. They must be completed at least two weeks prior to the registration day of the class.
All Scholarships are reviewed by the Circus Up Scholarship Committee and distributed based on available funds as well as criteria created by the Scholarship Committee. This fund is primarily intended for people who will be taking class in the greater Boston area. You may be asked for a short follow up conversation.
We are proud to participate in Mass Cultural Council's Card to Culture program in collaboration with the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Department of Public Health's WIC Nutrition Program, the Massachusetts Health Connector, and hundreds of organizations by making cultural programming accessible to those for whom cost is a participation barrier. EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare cardholders are financially eligible for full scholarship classes, however please see full eligibility and priority guidelines above.

Sliding Scale Pricing
Circus Up uses circus arts to overcome social barriers and build community with people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. To us this means that all of our events, classes, and workshops should be made as accessible as possible. Our sliding scale reflects this, by having those who can pay more cover costs for those who can only pay less. By paying at a higher level, you are helping ensure that this work empowers an economically diverse community of people.
Below are guidelines for pricing, however, we understand that everybody's financial situation is different and varies by a multitude of factors other than income.
